Rules and Regulations
Check-in will take place on September 12, 13 & 14 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at Glenhyrst Art Gallery of Brant, 20 Ava Rd, Brantford, ON N3T 5G9 (519) 756-5932.
Advanced registration is encouraged, however you may register at check-in. ALL canvases/panels/paper MUST be stamped PRIOR to painting. No unstamped art will be accepted for the show. No pre-painted, or marked supports will be stamped, an evenly stained surface however is allowed.
Each work of art must be STARTED AND COMPLETED en plein air, during the event days and in the area allocated.
All works to be jurored (up to a maximum of 3 plein air pieces for each person registered and one for the Quick Paint) can be dropped off at the Syl Apps Arena, Paris, ON between the hours of 11:00 am 12:30 pm for final judging and show and sale.
The size of the image is not to exceed 60 united inches (combined width and height).Artists must provide their own materials.
Artists may paint any subject/scene outdoors, within 10 km on either side of the Grand River, starting at the North end at Paris, ending at the Oxbow at Six Nations of the Grand. Maps will be provided at check-in. Some photographs of suggested locations will be available for viewing at check-in. A map can be found under menu/map on this site.
The show and sale of work will take place on Saturday, September 15 at the Syl Apps Community Centre in Paris ON. 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Winner will be announced at 1:00 pm.
Artists will select their artworks for the sale, and are responsible for picking works up from Syl Apps Community Centre after the show. A maximum of 3 works per artist will be accepted plus one for Quick Paint (if participating). Frames are discretionary but are recommended for paintings on panels. A 30% commission applies to all sales. The organization of Brant Colours assumes no responsibility for loss or damage to any work, display or person during this event.
SUBMISSION OF ART:
The artist must be registered for the event to participate in the show and sale. Artwork for the show must be turned in at the Syl Apps Community Centre, Paris, ON, between 11:00 and 11:15 am for Quick Paint and 11:00 am and 12 noon for all other works, on Saturday September 15. The artist may select up to 3 pieces for Juroring.
All artwork for the show must have the artist clearly identified on the back as well as the Stamp. A card must be attached to the work of art stating the artist’s name, title of the work and price.
Works of art must be submitted in a manner that allows for easy handling and to be displayed flat.Event staff will set up the artwork for the jury process and exhibition on Saturday morning. Artists should be prepared to leave their artwork until the end of the show at 4:00 pm. Artwork may be picked up 4:00 to 5:00 pm. Any artwork not removed by 5:00 pm becomes the property of the Brant Colours organization and will be disposed of as they see fit.
As an entrant of the 2018 Brant Colours Plein Air event, I understand that the organization reserves the right to not accept paintings that do not fall within the rules of the competition. I declare that the work(s) of art submitted for the show are my own work, are made without instruction of others, and I am not aware of any ownership of copyright of another person to the image.I acknowledge receipt of the rules governing the event and agree, as a condition of entering the show, that the Brant Colours organization may publicize and/or broadcast my name, likeness, photograph of my work and the fact that I participated in the event.

QuICK PAINT - RULES AND REGULATIONS
The Quick Paint competition will take place on September 15 from 9:15 am to 11:15 am in downtown Paris, ON.
Initial registration for the Quick Paint is required at canvas stamping at Glenhyrst Art Gallery. Canvas distribution will happen between 9:00 am and 9:15 am at Wincey Mills in Paris, ON. Advanced registration is required and CANNOT be done on the morning of the event.
Each work of art must be STARTED AND COMPLETED en plein air, on September 15 between 9:15 am and 11:15 am.
Artists must used stamped surface provided by Brant Colours. No other canvases will be accepted for juroring. Quick Paint submission wil be judged independently of the rest of the Plein Air work and the prize will be a gift baskets valued at XXXX. Artists may paint any subject/scene outdoors and within the designated Downtown Paris area. Please refer to the map you will receive indicating painting boundaries.
This is a painting event and mediums can include: Watercolour, acrylic or oil paints.
Drop off of final works is between 11:00 and 11:15 am at Syl Apps Community Centre in Paris, ON. Any works submitted after 11:15 am will not be juried. Each Quick Paint can be displayed and sold at the Show and Sale from 1:00 - 4:00pm at the Syl Apps Community Centre and will be subject to the same commission arrangement as the other works.
